The Infernal Return

Overview

Welcome to the Infernal Return, a role-playing adventure game set in Fengdu ghost city. Join Koward, a boy who was abducted to hell, as he tries to find his way back to the land of the living. Explore dungeons, acquire godly powers, venture into dreamscapes, and hunt ghosts to escape this nightmarish realm.

Story

Koward is a timid young man who lacks the courage to reveal his feelings to his girlfriend, Mangostina. To fulfil the indicators given by Yama, the two underworld messengers, Black and White Impermanence, abduct Koward on a pretence and bring him to the underworld. Thus, Koward's spirit becomes trapped within the confines of Fengdu Ghost City. To escape and return to the land of the living, Koward strikes a deal with the Styx Lord. Whilst fulfilling the price demanded by the Styx Lord, Koward investigates the cause of his death, gains the help of two companions, and ultimately discovers a way to resurrect himself. Along the way, he realises that his abduction may have been a carefully planned ruse...

Gameplay

• Novel interactive system

The protagonist must constantly gather wine to fill the 'wine well' in order to prevent the catastrophic moment when Yama, the King of Hell, awakens. In addition, the hero can receive items from his family and friends in the mortal world through dream messaging and cross-world delivery services provided by the esteemed Bank of Heaven and Earth.

• Classic but not exhausting exploration

There are always collectible hidden elements waiting to be discovered. With a desire to uncover them, you'll find yourself becoming an expert at spotting these hidden gems tucked away in unconventional corners. This will give you a sense of accomplishment in a professional manner. Keep an eye out for any bright, missing, or regularly arranged spots, where you might find little ghosts who enjoy whining and crying. Also, don't forget to revisit places you've already explored as you may uncover new surprises!

• There is a casino in the underworld! Compete against ghosts with fantastic leisure games

Inflation has become a major concern in the underworld due to the burning of paper money by human beings. To afford expensive commodities, one of the best ways to earn money is through the Oblivion Casino. However, it's also a quick way to go broke if you're not careful.

• Special powers only available in the underworld

Summoning a motorcycle, doing the infernal dance, teleporting, telescoping and transforming, etc.

Operating instructions 

The game fully supports joystick controllers and keyboard controls. A joystick enables all direction walk and run while a keyboard only supports 8 directions. Detailed instructions can be found in game.
